Meet Jim Doutre Born near the Fontainebleau Forest, outside Paris, Jim grew up in a family with a rich appreciation for wine and food. When Jim's father came to the states to take over his uncle's restaurants and catering business in Manhattan, Jim adopted this country immediately. he worked in his father's restaurant in all aspects of the business and started to gain a more serious interest in wines. As he explored America as a young man, Jim had the advantage of living all along the East Coast and both Northern and Southern California. He spent several years in both France and Germany all the while pursuing his hobby - the study of wine. Shortly thereafter, Jim became a professional wine buyer directing an $85,000.000 business. After retirement, Jim immediately initiated contact with the UT Arlington Continuing Education Department to set up some wine appreciation courses. Although still active in the trade as a broker, Jim enjoys sharing his knowledge garnered over a lifetime of exposure with eager students from throughout the metroplex.
